Patient Blood Management (PBM)
El patient blood management (PBM) consiste en la elaboración de un plan personalizado multimodal y multidisciplinar que tiene como objetivo minimizar el riesgo transfusional para mejorar la evolución del paciente y también reducir costes (como son la reducción de la estancia hospitalaria o de complicaciones posoperatorias).
La Organización Mundial de la Salud ha incluido el término PBM en su resolución WHA63.12 de 2010, como una directriz para promover el uso de alternativas a la transfusión según las necesidades, a fin de mejorar los resultados clínicos y la seguridad de los pacientes.
